Timothy George Sullivan, age 71, passed away on September 2, 2021. Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of Germaine J. Tellier and George A. "Bud" Sullivan, and brother of Daniel R. Sullivan. Educated at the Universities of Vermont, West Virginia and NH, Tim had a long, distinguished career in the field of developmental disabilities. In this capacity, Tim worked at the Laconia State School and Training Center, as a teacher at the Pleasant St. School in Laconia, NH, for the State of NH, and most recently, for almost thirty years as the State Director for NH for the Institute of Professional Practice, a non-profit serving those with developmental disabilities. For his lifetime of service, Tim received the Legacy Leaders' Circle Award from the Anchor Foundation, for "Leadership, Innovation, Inclusion and Celebration" of individuals with developmental disabilities. Tim was well known for his big personality, his robust laugh, his wit, and humor. He loved his children Savannah and Aidan beyond measure. Their friends were always welcomed into his home to join family members around the table, where lively, surprising conversations unfolded with Tim's exaggerated storytelling. The ocean, gardening, reading, music and rousing conversations gave Tim great joy. His curiosity about life and his respect for the personal history of everyone he met were also endless sources of fascination for him. Tim's generosity of spirit and heart, his fierce advocacy, the many kindnesses he extended towards others, and his well of compassion and abiding dedication to family and friends are what will be remembered and missed forever. Tim is survived by his two children, Aidan Mirisola-Sullivan and Savannah Mirisola-Sullivan, both of Portland, ME, his ex-wife of 47 years and lifelong friend, Susan C. Mirisola of Kennebunk, ME and many family members and friends, all of whom are grateful to have experienced Tim's bright presence in their lives. Donations in Tim's name can be made at equalitymaine.org. A celebration of life is planned for 2022; please contact family members for details. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, Saco has been entrusted with his arrangements.
