Timothy "Tim" Brian Reynolds departed this life on February 7, 2022 at the age of 59, in
his hometown of Rome, Ga. Tim was born April 26, 1962 to the late Robert and Arlivia
Hudson Reynolds.
Tim attended Model High School where he was a stellar student athlete. He was a
member of the track team where he threw the shot put and discus. He was the state
wrestling champion in the heavy weight division. He was also a member of Model's
1979 state championship football team. All of these achievements earned Tim a spot in
the Hall of Fame at Model High School.
Tim was recruited by the University of Georgia to play football where he was a member
of the 1980 SEC Championship and National Championship Team.
After college, Tim served his community by becoming a police officer. He was a
lieutenant for the UGA campus before transferring to the Athens-Clarke Police
Department. There, he was named Police Officer of the Year for two consecutive years.
He was promoted to sergeant after his hard work and dedication to the department.
Tim and his family returned to Rome in 1994. He worked as a juvenile probation officer
until his health declined.
Tim joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age and was ordained a minister under
the leadership of Pastor Steve Dennis. He was a member of the Promise Keepers, a
Christian organization for men. He had a love for music and used his vocal talents by
singing in the choir and other groups.
Tim is survived by his two children, Timothy "Tim" Robert Reynolds, Timia Arlivia
Reynolds; their mother, Vondell Ringer (Herman) and a future granddaughter, Jordyn
Arlivia; five siblings, Robert Lee Reynolds, Paula Jasper, Judy Smith (Willie), Mary Franco,
and Joel Reynolds; nephews and nieces, Tara Grimes (Dontay), William Ware Jr.,
Reushaun Jones (AJ), Shana Toomer (Terel), Jamal Jasper, Janaye Jasper, Robert Franco
and Richard Franco; an uncle, Gene Reynolds; aunts, Marjorie Calloway and Glenda
Dixon; along with a host of great nieces, nephews and friends.
We celebrate the many fond memories of Tim's life and legacy. A celebration of life will
be held Saturday, February 12th at 1:00 PM at Lovejoy Baptist Church, 436 Branham Ave.
SW Rome, Georgia 30161. Family and friends will be received an hour prior to the start
of the service.
