Help us celebrate Timothy! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Timothy.
Our hero, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Timothy R. Costanza, 73, went to be with the Lord Monday morning, October 5, 2020, in Boerne, Texas. Tim was a gentle, kind, and inspiring man who spent much of his time in service to others. Because of him, this world is a better place and we are better for knowing him. He was born on August 15, 1947, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Clara (Iacovino) Costanza. He graduated from high school in Charleroi and then from California State University in California, Pennsylvania. While in college, he met his beautiful wife, Janet Miklos. Shortly after graduating from college, he and Janet moved to Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, so he could begin his 31 year teaching career for the Shippensburg Area School District. Tim also served in the Army National Guard, along with being a volunteer fireman for many years. However, one of his most proud honors was being elected Mayor from 1993 - 2001 serving two four-year terms. He would have run for a third term but after retiring from teaching decided to move to Boerne, Texas, so he could fully participate in his role as Grandpa. Anyone who asked knew he loved serving his town. He also spent countless years coaching teams, sponsoring clubs, and driving his daughters all over to support their activities. He has acquired many honors, awards, and achievements over the years. He always made his family so proud.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Amy Beth Costanza. He is survived by his lovely wife of 50 years, Janet Costanza; his daughter, Krista Costanza Lux (fianc? Chris Bopp); two granddaughters, Tori and Tana Lux; his brother, Charles P. Costanza and his wife Donna Costanza; and his nieces and nephews.
Tim loved supporting his daughter and granddaughters in all that they did. He would not miss a volleyball game and for many years traveled all over with Janet to watch and support their teams. He was known as the "Best Chauffeur" for the girls and would often be seen with a car full of girls. He is best remembered for his snow cone adventures and always having the best candy and snacks ready for his girls to enjoy. He will also be remembered for his love of firetrucks and often joked that he was going to buy one someday and keep it in his garage to drive in parades.
His most important accomplishment, however, he would tell you was the 53 years he had with the love of his life. Married on January 24, 1970, for 50+ years he adored Janet and if you gave him enough time, he would tell you stories of how he knew she was the ONE from the moment he first saw her. Their love spanned half a century and will continue for eternity. He told her when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary that he would gladly give her another 50 if she would have him. Their love is a true testament to who he was. He will be forever loved and missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you make a donation to Hidden Springs Youth Ranch c/o Pam Colaw: 205 English Oaks Circle, Boerne, Texas 78006.
