, Sr. of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at the age of 86. After several months of declining health, Timoteo died peacefully at Ebony Lakes Nursing Home.
Timoteo was born in Brownsville on October 21, 1934, to mother Porfiria Castro. Timoteo developed his strong work ethic at an early age, baking in a local panader?a as well as delivering papers for the Brownsville Herald. As a teenager, he ran track and played baseball; he would later be a driving force in developing baseball players and teams at Ringgold Park in Brownsville.
Timoteo finished his education in the military, serving in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He was first stationed in Warner Robins, Georgia, where he met his first wife. His first deployment was to Germany where he represented the USAF on their soccer team and was able to play all over Europe. His service in the military was one of his proudest accomplishments.
After retiring from the Air Force, he served as a paralegal and immigration specialist for Georgia Legal Services in Tifton, Georgia. He worked tirelessly to assist others during his tenure with legal services and continued to freelance in Dalton, Georgia, upon his retirement from legal services.
Throughout his lifetime, he stayed connected to the world of sports by serving as an official for almost every sport. He headed the Gold Leaf Officials Association in Tifton, Georgia, and was head official for numerous sports, including football, baseball, soccer, basketball, and wrestling. He was well-known for his leadership and tenacity on the fields and on the mat.
Eventually, he returned to his beloved Brownsville in 2013. Although it had changed a great deal since his childhood, he enjoyed walks in Ringgold Park with his wife and visiting the veteran's memorial at the library where he and others were honored for their service.
His children remember him as a man who valued God, family, respect, and education. He encouraged hard work and tenacity in all of them.
