Tom Sukalac passed away in his sleep at his home in Powder Springs, GA, on February 4, 2022. He was born in East Cleveland, OH, on December 24, 1945. He was preceded in death by his wife Pam Castle, his parents Emil and Mary, and his elder brother David. He is survived by his son Thom (Debra), daughter Kristen (Greg), his two brothers James and Ronald, his niece Jeane--who was like a second daughter, his godson and nephew Michael, his niece Ellen, his nephews Chris, Nick, and Eric, his great nieces and nephew, Kathleen Sukalac?the mother of his children, Mary Etta Gregory?who was also like a daughter, and his finicky?but faithful?companion Fat Cat. Since he salted every meal before even tasting it, he will also be mourned by the salt industry. He worked at Welch Foods for 32 years and had an encore career as a Furniture Medic. For decades, he was an avid amateur thespian. He put his heart into singing and mastering French, but (alas) his tin ear frustrated both ambitions. He was an active member of Nativity Lutheran Church in Austell, GA, and led the discussions of its Saturday Men's Breakfast Club for many years. A memorial service will be held at Nativity Lutheran Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, 26 February, followed by a fellowship reception. The family requests that the congregation wear masks. The service will be livestreamed (See https://www.nativity-ga.org/service-times for connection details.) In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Calvary Children's Home (https://calvarykids.org/donate/).
