Thomas M. Rule Sr., 78, of Easthampton passed away peacefully Friday Aug. 27, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in Easthampton. Tom was born in Amherst, MA, May 22, 1943, the son of the late Peter and Eva (Polchynski) Rule. He was educated in the Amherst Schools and later attended the Atlantic Richfield Academy in Providence RI. Tom was the Owner and Operator of Rule Transportation a local trucking company that serviced numerous car dealerships throughout New England. Previously Tom owned and operated the former Florence Atlantic service station, managed several Gas stations for the Former Gastown, the F.L. Roberts Company, supervisor for the Food and Fuel, employed at Schwan's sales, and the River Drive Excavating. What many area residents knew Tom best for, were his hand made Picnic Tables he sold from his home in Easthampton. Thomas leaves his beloved wife of 54 years Joan (Roberts) (McCormick) Rule, his two sons Thomas M Rule Jr. (Donna), Michael P. McCormick (Margaret), his daughter Kimberly Britch (Stephen), his Daughter-in-law Sheila McCormick, and his sister Helen Sullivan (Don). Thomas was proudest of his 6 Grandchildren, his 6 great grandchildren, his 2 great great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his son David McCormick, his brothers Peter and Donald Rule and his sisters Pauline Johnson and Barbara Weagle. At Toms request there will be no services. Any condolences may be sent to the Rule family at 5 Everett St. Easthampton, MA 01027. The O'Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
