Thomas Michael O'Connor, Houston based-Chemical Engineer and Philanthropist, passed from this life on July 19th, 2022 at the age of 68.
Michael was born in Dennison, TX, on September 18, 1953 to Beverly and Thomas M. O'Connor. He attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology and later founded the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station's Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University in 1995.
He devoted his life to research, education and process safety in engineering while also enjoying his passion for travel and photography.
Michael is survived by his mother Beverly O'Connor of Austin, sister Anita Loraine Moulder of Austin, and nephews Brian, Daniel and Sean Poolman of Austin.
A special thanks to the doctors at Methodist Hospital that attended to Michael and his ongoing arrhythmia over the years. Michael was an organ donor and his gift will give the gift of life to others in need.
Services for Michael will be held at Forest Park Lawndale located at 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023, Sunday September 11th at 10a.m.
