Tom was born on December 30th 1942 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, the fifth of six children with George Fahey his only surviving sibling. He met Helen at Michigan State University while getting his master's degree. Tom enlisted in the Navy and served in Vietnam. After his return, he and Helen married on September 16th, 1967 in Kingston. Helen had spent a year in Africa with her parents so the wedding had been planned across three continents!
They started their married life in Pacific Beach, WA where Tom was a facilities officer for the Navy. He left the Navy as a lieutenant and then became a manager at Scott Paper Company. He worked in Mobile, Alabama, Sandusky, Ohio, and Everett, Washington and retired in 1998.
Tom believed in the Fahey 4; Faith, Family, Friends and Fitness and he lived his life with these values. He was active at St. Michael's Church in many ministries. Tom also was a member of Serra Club (supporting priests and sisters) for over 30 years serving several times as president. Tom was invested in the mission of Housing Hope and serving the homeless. He was highly involved and received several awards for his service. Helping others was always a motivation for Tom. In his later years, Tom enjoyed hiking and gardening. Being with family was important to him and he loved to have gatherings. He was a supportive father and loving Papa. He is loved and will be missed.
Tom's memorial mass will be held at St. Michael's in Snohomish on July 16th at 11 am. Tribute donations can be made to Housing Hope or the Alzheimer's Association.
