THOMAS MOTYKA, 61, passed away peacefully January 30th, 2021 at Baystate Medical in Springfield, with his family members at his side. Tom was born December 19th, 1959 in Northampton the son of Frank and Jane (Vollinger) Motyka. Tom graduated from Smith Academy and lived in Hatfield for most of his life. He made friends easily, was always helpful, and very generous. He had a big heart, and would give you the shirt off his back. Tom was a handy man, mechanically inclined and a good problem solver. He was very good at most trades and spent most of his working career doing carpentry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motor cycling, gardening and scratch tickets.
Tom also enjoyed spending time and helping out his nieces, nephews, and friends' children. In his later years when his parents were in declining health Tom was very beneficial in their care. Tom will be missed by his family and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Frank and nieces Christy and Shannon. He is survived by his mother Jane; sister Marie and her partner Stach; brothers Frank and his wife Donna, Bernard and his wife Darla, John and his wife Linda, Martin and his wife Karla, Dwight, Jim and his wife Laurie, Carl and his wife Bonnie; Aunt Helen and good friend Bob. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
