Tom departed this world unexpectedly, leaving behind his wife Suzi; his children Kevin Leonard and Katie Dial and her husband Jad and their children Walker, Blakely, Hadley, Emerson and Lindley; Suzi's children John David, Michael, and Sammy Pike; his sister Mary Leonard and her husband Michael Berry; his identical twin brother Don Leonard Jr, his wife Patty and their children Donny III and Mary Lynn. Tom was predeceased by his loving parents Don and Carol Leonard. Tom had a wonderful extended family, including in-laws, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and a collection of loving, beautiful friends and neighbors who loved him deeply. Tom created a love-filled life with Suzi. They seamlessly blended two large families into one loving and supportive community of exes, steps, in-laws and out-laws. He was the most inclusive and kind man, and never happier than when the whole family was together. You only needed to know Tom for a moment to remember him the rest of your life. His soul was on-fire, with an infectious passion for life, family, friends and the well-being of others. Tom squeezed every ounce out of life while striving to serve like no other. He enriched the lives of all he touched. His time, energy, kindness, love and respect were freely shared with everyone. He was a creative outfitter, a tinkerer and the expert at finding or building solutions to problems you never knew you had. Tom's interests were many. He enjoyed twinning activities and shenanigans with his brother Don such as working together with the Knights of Columbus at the St. Ann's fish fry, setting-up epic tailgates at Auburn or UGA football games, and extreme-tubing, pulling generations of children behind the boat on the lake. Tom is known for his legendary Halloween trick-or-treating trailer, for adventure packed Spring break trips, and for guiding the boys to becoming Eagle Scouts. Tom loved driving his Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 convertible, arriving an hour early to take the pole position and be first in-line to chauffeur the grandkids from school. He often and magically appeared at the most opportune time to drive family and friends wherever he thought they needed to go, all the while beaming with pure joy and hoping that others loved the 442 as much as he did. Tom was born in Buffalo, New York. His love for his home town and the Buffalo Bills never wavered. He remained in touch with true life-long friends he met while at St. Gregory the Great School and Williamsville South High School. Tom met his first love and the mother of his children, Sandra Spinillo, while attending the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he graduated with a B.S. in Accounting. Tom had a passion for healthcare and for helping others. His latest work at VivoSense helped expand new to-the-world analytics for clinical trials. Tom had a gift for helping others by explaining complex medical issues and providing comfort to those facing illness through his research, presenting options, and inspiring hope. Tom was a true gentleman, emotive, genuine, and someone whom everyone wanted to emulate. He meant so much to so many people and made everyone feel like his own family. Tom was everybody's best-friend, neighbor, partner-in-crime, mentor, coach and frequently the perfect proxy for a brother or a dad. In a world where we can choose to be anything, Tom always chose to be kind. The grandkids would love for everyone to try to Live Like Pops (LLP). We are hopeful that Tom inspires all of us to be more kind, humble, loving and grateful. Tom's servant heart was boundless and a gift to everyone he touched. When the Lord welcomed Tom with open arms into His kingdom, we're sure He said to him "Well done, my good and faithful servant". We take solace in knowing that God's love is eternal and that we will see Tom again on the other side of heaven. All are invited to Tom's service. Visitation with family and friends will immediately follow the service in the parish hall. If you're able to join us, please don't feel like you need to dress up as Tom's wardrobe consists mostly of hoodies.
