Thomas A. Grosskopf, age 91 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Charleston House Memory Care in Beaver Dam.
Tom was born on January 19,1933 in Shawano. He was the youngest of five children of William and Sophia (Hoffman) Grosskopf. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1951 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education from Stout State College (now UW-Stout) in 1959. After graduating high school he worked at Joplin Corp in Shawano before enlisting in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
He was married to Janet Haase. Tom worked as a draftsman and Tool designer for several manufacturers, including Metalfab, Maysteel, John Deere, and Lindberg (General Signal) of Watertown. Tom enjoyed trapping and tinkering with small engines and bicycles. He spent many hours working in the yard. In his younger years, he enjoyed going to auctions. In retirement he enjoyed his daily visit to Walker's Restaurant and walking and bicycling. More recently his pastime was "worked the puzzles." He always had a puzzle on his desk and completed many, many in his years at the assisted living. The birds that showed up on his deck and by his window also gave him hours of enjoyment.
Tom is survived by his son, Mark (Pamela) Grosskopf; grandson, Brandon; and further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dorothy, Bill, Frederick, and Jean; and other relatives.
