T. Howard England, age 94, of Zion, MD was called to his heavenly home to be with his Savior on Friday, December 20, 2024.
A lifelong resident of Zion, Howard was born September 17, 1930, to Eugene and Louise (McDowell) England. He graduated from the Calvert Agricultural School and in 1949 from the Goldey Beacom Business College in Wilmington, DE.
In 1958, upon the death of his father with whom he had worked the dairy farm, Howard carried the farm forward and managed the herd of registered Golden Guernseys for almost three decades. When the herd was sold in 1986, Howard continued to oversee the farm, worked as plumber's assistant for McDowell Plumbing of Calvert, MD, and then in maintenance at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center for 10 years.
While reserved in personality, Howard became a rock of Christian character having trusted Christ as his personal Savior while yet a boy. He took the Scriptures seriously and served in Bible believing churches in various capacities and for the last 25 years under the ministry of his son at the Bible Fellowship Baptist Church. He had a keen interest in all things agricultural as well as sports, history, and politics. He could surprise friends with a lighthearted quip and tease.
Howard was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years in 2014, Doris (DeMond) England, as well as his sisters Sara Grubb, Jean Heinel, and Mary Louise England. He is survived by his children: Thomas Jr. and wife, Vickey (Carroll), of West Grove, PA; Jeffrey and wife, Diane (Haga) of Rising Sun, MD; Amy (England) Edwards of Greencastle, PA; and Nils and wife, Amy (Herwig) of Marysville, MD; his grandchildren: Tommy England of Manheim, PA; Valerie Reddig and husband, Trevor of Lansdale, PA; and Stephen England and wife, Jennifer (Shafer) of Bozeman, MT; sister-in-law, Diana DeMond of Elkton, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to share in a graveside service this Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1pm at Friends Cemetery, Calvert, MD.
Sincere appreciation is expressed by the family to all who upheld Howard in prayer since the discovery of an abdominal mass in September 2022, and to Amedisys Hospice who helped guide us through Dad's closing weeks with special thanks to Javin Taylor, Dad's nurse.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Howard's honor to the Bible Fellowship Baptist Church, 325 Bard Cameron Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
