Long-time Midland resident Thomas Edward Moore (Tom) passed away peacefully in his home on June 22, 2022. Tom was born in Tulsa on March 30, 1936, to Dale and Elvera Moore.
He graduated from El Reno High school in 1954, where he lettered in basketball and baseball. During this time, he was blessed to develop lifelong friendships with a group of men who are now known as "The Men of 54." He started his college career at Oklahoma University on a basketball scholarship. He attended Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1956. He finished his college career with a basketball scholarship at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, where he graduated in 1959 with degrees in Geology and Business.
Upon graduation, Tom worked for the Dowell Division of Dow Chemical Hobbs, New Mexico, Anchorage, Alaska, and southern California as the Division Manager for the West Coast and Alaska.
In 1978 Tom and his family moved to Midland to work with his uncle, Wayne Moore as an independent oil and gas operator and ranching. He was involved in establishing The Wayne and JoAnn Moore Charitable Foundation in Midland, where he served as President of the board and Executive Director. Tom was very proud to be associated with the foundation that has enhanced the lives, communities, and opportunities of others through the Permian Basin and across the country since its inception in 2008.
Tom loved to fish, hunt, golf, play cards and spend time with his family and friends telling "tall tales."
Tom is survived by his son James Moore (wife Karen Moore) of Midland, daughters Ann Moore Jensen (husband Lance Jensen) of Tustin, California, and Marilyn Moore Jackson (husband Dauphen Jackson) of Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Jensen of Washington, D.C., William Jensen of Tustin, California, and Alexander and Drake Jackson of Austin, Texas. Tom also enjoyed spending time with his dear friend Charlene Waddell of Midland, Texas.
He will be forever missed, never forgotten, and always loved.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Tom will be held at Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 4:00pm-7:30pm.
