Thomas James Dixon, 87, formerly of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Born on January 17, 1937 in Pulaski, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Thomas Gurney Dixon and Ruth Agnes Bullion. Thomas was raised by his grandmother, Mary Beatrice Albright Dixon, affectionately known as "Granny Dixon", when his father passed away suddenly from a car accident in November of 1936. He graduated from High School in Suitland, Maryland in 1955. With only a high school education, Thomas went to work at EC Ernst Electrical in Washington, DC. He started at the bottom and at the time of departure, Thomas was the Executive VP. After leaving EC Ernst Electrical, he went to work for a company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until his retirement. One of his biggest accomplishments was a multiple number of lighting fixtures throughout DC and was sent to NJ where he oversaw the construction and development of the electrical for the old New York Giants stadium in 1976. His main hobbies were writing letters and reading. He had a strong love for his children and grandchildren. He especially loved visits and would light up watching his great grandchildren play. He also loved Star Trek and when living in PA he enjoyed walking at the park, and getting WAWA coffee daily. He enjoyed Christmas best of all and kept a ceramic Christmas tree in his room year round.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Katherine L. Pinto Dixon; his first wife Joyce V. Williams Tipton (Butch); sister Margie Annie Dixon Lundsford (Raymond); brother Ronald Henson (Betty).
Thomas is survived by his children Thomas L. "Butch" Dixon (Annette), Joann V. Copsey (Ronnie), Jean M. Dixon, and William J. "Billy" Dixon; grandchildren Ashley V. Milstead (Jake), Tiffany F. Seyler (Chris), Rachel M. Dixon, Kimberly J. Huffman, Rebecca J. Dixon, and Joseph B. "Joey" Huffman (Katie); great grandchildren Jaidyn, Ariah, Ace, Aviela, Avery, Levi, CJ, Makenzie, and Scarlett; niece Loralee Henson Kimborough (Mike); nephew Richard G. Lunsford (Veronica).
Services and interment will be private.
