
Thomas R. Demery
WWII Veteran, Pilot, Civil Engineer, World Traveler, Scuba Diver, Photographer, "Cow Pie", and a great Story-teller.
Tom was born in Dade City, Florida on July 21, 1924 to Thomas R. Demery and Helen Mar Bushnell. He spent his childhood in various towns in Florida, but his most memorable early years were spent in Keystone Heights.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in September 1942 and served in World War Two as a radio operator on a B-17, flying 35 missions over Germany. He received the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters.
He graduated from the University of Florida as a civil engineer and spent most of his professional years in Alaska, Arizona, California, Okinawa and Vietnam (as a civilian), before retiring in 1991 to live in Orem.
He married Ramona Petersen of Hyrum, Utah in 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1957. They were the parents of Jeffrey, who died in 1986, and Tina who lives in Bend, Oregon. Tom and Ramona completed a service mission at the LDS Motion Picture Studio.
Among his survivors are his wife, Ramona, daughter, Tina, seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Tom's favorite activities were directing choirs, singing barbershop style, collecting sea shells, scuba diving, and photography. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 6, 2016, 10:00 a.m. in the Sharon Park 1st Ward, 310 North 100 East, Orem. Friends may visit with the family that morning from 9-9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Hyrum City Cemetery.
