Thomas Michael Collins, Sr., 96, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away, Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Harmony in Martinsburg. Born Saturday, November 5, 1927, in Westernport, MD, he was the son of the late John William Collins and the late Agnes May (Hutchinson) Collins. He was a 1947 graduate of LaSalle High School in Cumberland, MD. He was a veteran of the World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Tom was employed with the Maryland State Police, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Martinsburg, WV , Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, B.P.O. Elks 378 and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid sportsman and talented woodworker. He is survived by his wife Suzanne Collins; sons, Thomas M. "Mike" Collins, Jr. & wife Mary, Richard J. Collins & wife Vonanita, Steven F. Collins & wife Jewel and Donald P. "Pat" Collins & wife Krystal, sister, Catherine Cook, nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, William Collins, Joseph Collins and Robert Collins and three grandsons. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Tuesday June 4th, 2024 at St. Patrick's Church 201 North Centre Street Cumberland, Maryland 21502. Interment will be at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, MD. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle 330 Hospice Lane Kearneysville, WV 25403.
