Thomas Allyn "Tom" Coker passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in Irving, Texas at the age of 73. He was born along with his twin brother Terry on October 6, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Thomas and Betty Coker. Tom graduated from MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas in 1967. He then attended the University of Arlington where he graduated with his degree in electrical engineering in 1971. To his and everyone's surprise Tom was drafted in the last draft to serve his country in the United States Navy right after graduating collage. He proudly served in the Navy from 1971 - 1978. After his service Tom used his electrical engineering degree and went on to work for Mostek which was later bought out by SGS Thompson for 33 years until his retirement. Tom is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Vernon Coker; mother, Betty Hodgkiss Coker; and twin brother, Terry Coker. Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Tim Coker, and wife Sherril Lynn; niece, Lyndsey Guenter; nephew, Colton Guenter; nephew, Cory Coker; sister-in-law, Stephanie Coker; aunt, Joann Coker, cousins: Carolyn Coker Manns, and David Coker; as well as numerous other family and friends who will miss Tom dearly. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations in honor of Tom be made to the Wounded Warriors. A memorial service will be held at 11:30a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. Irving, TX 75061. Tom will be laid to rest with full Military Honor during an inurnment at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11:15a.m. on May 31, 2023.
