Thomas "Roy" Champagne, 81, passed away on May 16, 2023, in The Woodlands, Texas. Thomas Roy Champagne was born on August 8, 1941, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Margaret Roy Champagne and Godfrey Kent Champagne. He graduated from Redemptorist High School and later graduated from Louisiana State University. He married his loving wife, Marian on December 30th, 1967. They made their home in Houston, Texas and then retired in Montgomery, Texas.
Roy served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965. He was very proud of his service on the U.S.S. Valley Forge. After his service, he started his career as an Accountant/Tax Representative at Texaco, where he worked for 37 years until retirement.
Roy was an avid golfer and enjoyed horse races, and watching all sports, but especially LSU football and all of the sports teams for which his granddaughters played. Roy was a devout Catholic and worshipped at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas. He loved all of his family far and wide. His infectious personality made an impact on all who knew him. He knew just how to work the room, and we know he is already running for Mayor of Heaven.
Roy is survived by his wife, Marian Fay Jeffries Champagne; his children, Stacey Champagne Skinner and husband Mike Skinner, Anne Champagne; Cary Champagne and wife Kalynn Champagne; his grandchildren, Allison Skinner and Camille Weisenbach, Kelley Skinner Becker and husband Peyton Becker, and Kolbie Champagne; his brothers, Kent Champagne (Eileen), Howell Champagne (Cindy), John Champagne, and David Champagne (Olivia). Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Roy Champagne and Godfrey Kent Champagne.
A viewing will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 21st at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas (20850 Eva St, Montgomery, Texas 77356). The funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas, on Monday, May 22nd at 1:30 PM with interment at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Plantersville.
