Thomas (Tommy) Joseph Burke, Jr, age 75, passed away at his home on March 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Tommy was of the Catholic faith and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science from the Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in 1971, where he was an active member of the Sigma Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduation, Tommy helped to protect the city of Nashville by being a dedicated police officer for over 30 years. After retirement, he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, to spend time with his 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren, his proudest achievements. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Joseph Burke, Sr and Winifred (Doerr) Burke, along with one sister, Barbara Flowers. He is survived by his two children, Michelle (Judah) Wilkins and Gloria (Scott) Roysdon; five grandchildren, David, Megan, Abigail, Neely, and Daniel; and two sisters, Joan (Don) Cochran, and Mary Batts. Tommy also had several nieces and nephews, many life long friends, and his dog Bella. A graveside service will be held at 9 AM CST Tuesday, March 30, at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the United States Army.
