Rosekrans-Hale, Theresa R. (Serfilippi)
Spring Hill, FL - It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa R. Rosekrans (Hale) announces her passing after a brief illness, on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at the age of 87.
Theresa was born on December 20, 1932, in Cohoes, NY. She was the daughter of the late Sante and Marietta (Ghetti) Serfilippi. Theresa was a graduate of Cohoes High School and immediately went on to work for Bell Systems of New York for 26 years in various positions.
Theresa was married for 23 years to the love of her life, the late Charles E. Rosekrans. She was a beloved friend of Charles’ daughter the late Anne M. (Rosekrans) Bashford, whom Anne had lovingly referred to as ‘Treece’. She played an instrumental part in the lives of her two grandsons of whom she is survived by; Gary R. Bashford (Remy) and Steven M. Bashford (Dawn). She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Theresa will be sadly missed by her sister and best friend Elinore E. Littlejohn of Watervliet. She is predeceased by two brothers; Samuel Serfilippi and John Serfilippi (Gabe). Theresa was the proud Aunt of 16 nephews and nieces, 34 great-nephews and nieces, 32 great-great-nephews and nieces and 2 great-great-great-nieces.
In 1979 Theresa and Charlie became residents of New Port Richey, Florida until the unexpected passing of her beloved Charlie. Several years later, Theresa remarried the late Harry L. Hale where she became a resident of Spring Hill.
In May of 1980, Theresa rooted herself as a Unit Secretary and was soon certified as a Heart Monitor Technician in the Cardiac Surgical Unit, with the HCA Bayonet Point/Hudson Medical Center for 23 years.
Theresa’s beloved and past furry companions; Nikie, Heidi and Mardi had accompanied her on long walks around their Spring Hill neighborhood, to meet and greet her neighborhood friends.
Theresa loved life and always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed socializing with those in her neighborhood while accompanied by a new furry friend, Duke her loyal companion, which filled her life and heart since July of 2018. Theresa’s fun loving personality and fierce independence was inspiring. She was always there to offer a helping hand and brighten the lives of others with her love, compassion and sense of humor. She took pride in knowing everyone in her neighborhood on a personal level. Theresa was also a loyal parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church where she attended faithfully.
Theresa had a passion for traveling. The most memorable were her family’s hometown of Northern Italy and the Islands of Hawaii. Theresa had a passion for photography, which combined nicley to capture the moments she so lovingly framed and currently displays throughout her home, the same home that is adorned with gerbera daisies, her favorite flower.
Theresa’s love for shopping was combined nicely with her generousity. Theresa loved to give more than receive, to a fault at times. She was well known for her sense of humor and her ability to make other’s laugh around her. She loved to wear her jester hat at different occasions to brighten the mood.
Her love of dancing was shown through the songs of her favorite music. She never hesitated to get up and express herself through dance in many places, which included family reunions, work events, and while visiting Tuscany and Rome, Italy.
Theresa’s love of food was expressed through hosting dinners for close friends and family in her home, she especially loved baking for those visiting. She would pour her love into her many cake receipes, to brighten the workdays of the nurses and secretaries in the office of her regularly scheduled doctor’s visits.
Theresa took pride in decorating her home for holidays, to draw the neighborhood children specifically during Halloween and Christmas. She was very passionate about her different creations of macramé pieces, which are also displayed in her home and given as gifts throughout the years.
Theresa’s home was always open to her family and friends, where the coffee flowed and exchanges were made with her quick wit, her infectious smile, laughter and love. Theresa had an infinity for the old black and white movies, dating as far back as the 1930s and ’40’s. She was astute with the names of actors and actresses, as well as the date of its production.
Theresa had many phrases one of which was “I am not 87, I am 27 with 60 years of experience”. Theresa spoke her mind, sharing the way it was without hurting your feelings “Ya see”. Her messages were shared with love and for your own benefit. For those closest to Theresa, she was never shy to administer her fun-loving, but serious punishment, the scuplung.
The family would like to thank Theresa’s neighbor and friend Amy, for the care of Duke and Theresa's home while absent receiving medical care. We would also like to thank Theresa’s dear friends Maureen, Evelyn and Kevin who were advocates for Theresa at the end of her life and were sure to care for Duke. Theresa will sadly be missed by all.
Those who wish to make donations in Theresa’s memory can do so to The Hernando County SPCA.
