South Bend - Theresa M. Widawski, 81, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Theresa was born June 20, 1936 in South Bend, to the late Casimir and Constance (Rybicki) Bystry. On September 3, 1955, Theresa married Donald Widawski, he preceded her in death on November 13, 2000. Theresa was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bert & Ziggy Bystry; and sister, Millie Gromski.
Survivors of Theresa include her children, Deborah (Mark) Horvath, Ann Marie (Mike) Black, Robert (Michelle) Widawski, David Widawski, Paul (Sandi) Widawski; grandchildren, Angela (Chad) Cave, Stacey Page, Bobbi Jo (Kevin) Arndt, Melissa Sanderson, Justin (Hillary) Horvath, Sara (Keith) Szyniszewski, Chad (Erica) Horvath, Apryl Benjamin, Kimberly Widawski, Jason Black, Jeffrey (Pam) Black; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; brother, Casey Bystry; and sister-in-law, Marcy Butz.
Theresa was part of the first graduating class of St. Joseph High School. She retired from the Credit Bureau of South Bend after 49 years followed by the Post Office Credit Union for 15 years. Theresa was a life-long parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, and she was a volunteer for the Milton Home. Theresa was also the caregiver for her mother & husband. Theresa loved spending time with her family and her special friends, Dorothy, Rita, Fetus and Rick, playing cards and going to the Casino.
Visitation for Theresa will be held 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in St. Adalberts Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
