Theresa Imelda Kerley Lundstrom was born on May 26, 1928, and passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022, at the venerable age of 94 years.
Theresa was born in Bassfield, MS, to John and Annette (McGill) Kerley. She spent her early years helping with the family cotton farm where she developed the tough resilience that saw her through the Depression, WWII, the untimely death of her mother, and other trials encountered in a long life. Theresa worked briefly for Bell Telephone, then followed the lead of her cousin Doll into nurses; training and proudly achieved the status of Registered Nurse. During this period, she met Curtis Lundstrom who became her husband and lifelong loving partner. After starting their family in Vicksburg, they followed a job opportunity and relocated to New Orleans, LA, where they had more children and spent the majority of their lives. Theresa was devoted to her family, but found time to be a Girl Scout leader, Red Cross Volunteer, CCD teacher, Mother's Club member, while making sure her family was well-fed and lovingly nurtured. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina brought sudden and lasting disruption to their lives, resulting in relocation to The Woodlands, TX. Curtis passed away within the next few years (2008).
Theresa's guiding light was her Catholic faith and love for her family. Her firm but gentle and kind spirit left an indelible mark on those she loved.
Theresa is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L Lundstrom; an infant daughter, Mary Alice; a daughter-in-law, Anna (Robin) Lundstrom; her parents and three sisters. She is survived by her son Kenneth Lundstrom (Mimi); three daughters, Susan Nanninga (Jim), Annette Lundstrom (Carol), Catherine Huete; brother, Gilbert Kerley; grandchildren, David, Laurel, Betsy, Roxanne, Derek; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily, and Aldo.
Funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 10:00am at St Simon & Jude Catholic Church, The Woodlands. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
