Theodore "Ted" Rhoades, 85, lifetime Barnard resident died Thursday afternoon, November 25, 2021 at Woodstock Terrace in Woodstock, VT.
He was born November 3, 1936 in Barnard; the son of Stanley & Viola (Lewis) Rhoades. He attended Barnard schools and had worked for Rousseau Saw Mills then hauled gravel for many years. Ted also was a heavy equipment operator for Rogers Brothers Construction Company and worked with his brother Larry logging for 40 years. Ted was married to Kay Seymour in Stockbridge on March 22, 1959. He enjoyed deer hunting, snowmobiling, maple sugaring and spending time at their camp in Stockbridge.
Survivors include his wife Kay Rhoades of Woodstock; daughters Betty Garrow and husband Bob of Braintree, Bonny Mock and husband Pat of West Hartford, Patricia Maguire and husband Duke of Bridgewater; son Timothy Rhoades of Barnard; brother Lawrence Rhoades of Bethel; 7 grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Teddy, Abby, Jake, George and Zach; 14 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Carroll "Jack" Rhoades, Cecil "Butch" Rhoades, and Benjamin Rhoades.
A memorial reception will be held 2:00pm Thursday, December 2nd at the Barnard Town Hall. Private burial will be at Methodist Cemetery in Barnard.
