Theodore (Ted) Abel passed away suddenly on September 17th,2021 while on vacation in Spokane area. Ted was born on April 14, 1953, in Portland, Oregon. He attended school in Portland, Bellevue and finally Arlington from which he graduated in 1971.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret, father Walter and late last year his brother Tobias (Toby)Ted leaves behind his wife and love of his life, Laura Josephsen-Abel. Ted also leaves behind his daughter Koran Cheers and her husband Joel and their daughter Xaria, his son Timothy Josephsen-Abel and wife Kristi, his brothers Timothy Abel, Thomas Abel, and sister Tami (Abel) Miller and her husband Lawrence. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted and Laura shared a beautiful house outside Stanwood, and he often wondered why he went on trips because he loved his home so much. Ted was known as quiet, friendly gentleman. Country was in his soul, and you could always recognize him downtown with his cowboy hat, Ariat shirt, Cinch jeans, belt buckle and cowboy boots. He loved archery, archery competition in fact he was a lifetime member of the silver arrow bowman club. Other outdoor things he loved were camping, fishing, riding horses, basketball, and baseball.
When the kids were little, he loved coaching baseball and watching his daughter, Koran play softball as well as other sports. During the fall he was all in for the Seattle Seahawks and really was intense about our family and friends fantasy football league.
Ted also had his soft side he loved planting dozens and dozens and dozens of flowers in pots each year all around his house and enjoyed hosting family/friend BBQ and fancy holiday dinners. He could hardly wait for season 4 premiere of the Yellowstone TV series (he said Nov 7th is too long away) and he was patiently waiting for the new James Bond movie to come out.
He loved traveling especially shorter flights like Arizona, Nevada, and California in our winter. And in the future, he and his wife planned on doing road trips across country. He loved America and truly knew how lucky he was to live in America.
Music was also one of his passions too he enjoyed country music to classic rock to southern Rock. The night before his unexpected death he got the chance to see Jason Aldean in Spokane something that was on his bucket list.
Ted also had the opportunity to get a college degree at 60 yrs. old, something he always wanted to do but never had the chance earlier in his life.
His whole family as well as his friends are feeling a profound loss and he is missed every day.
