Theodore "Ted" Gerlach, 75, passed away on July 28, 2021, at his residence after a fight with Pancreatic Cancer. He attended Mission High School, where he lettered in all 4 sports. In 1962, he was part of the winning team in the Colt World series, where he played against Bobby Bonds. He was an active member of the Texas Citrus Fiesta, having run the bar-b-que trailer on the parade route for many years. Being a family man, he was his sons and his grandchildren's biggest fans at every event.
Ted spent his entire life in construction, and he had been involved in many of the buildings you see across the Valley.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents Reinhold and Mary Ellen Gerlach; brothers Fred Gerlach, Dan Gerlach and a sister Anabel (Pete) Wickland.
Ted is survived by his wife, of 52 1/2 years, Mary Virginia Gerlach; sons Brian (Cori) Gerlach of Mission, Jeff (Jene) Gerlach of Spicewood, TX, Scott (Marissa) Gerlach of Mission; grandchildren Kaylee (Walter Fuentes) Seahorn, Weston (Chesney Perry) Seahorn, Makenzie Gerlach, Brett Gerlach, Reuben Haas III, Taylor Gerlach, Kyle Gerlach, Zachary Gerlach; great - grandchildren Ava Jo Fuentes, Wyatt Seahorn, Payton Seahorn, Blair Seahorn; his sister Mary Alice (Mike) Reynolds; as well as his sister-in-law Barbara Gerlach. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, from 5-9pm with a 7pm rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in McAllen. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Cremation will follow.
Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in McAllen.
