Theodore Larry Esch, age 79, of Mount Dora, Florida passed away peacefully at his son's home in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife and son by his side.
Larry, as he was known by most, was born in Traverse City, Michigan to Theodore Herbert and Elsie Mae Esch on December 8, 1943. He attended Leland Public School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served a tour in Vietnam. He went on to attend Michigan State University where he received his degree in Labor and Industrial Relations. He met the love of his life, Janis Bronner his sophomore year. They were married on December 14, 1968 at Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Michigan. They settled in Leelanau County to start a family and run the third generation family fruit farm. He served on the Leland School Board and was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Larry lived by the motto of faith, family and country.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian. Larry is survived by his wife, Janis; his son, Kevin; his granddaughter, Ella as well as his sister Janice Petersen of New Brighton, Minnesota.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Leland, Michigan on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at a time to be determined.
