Thales E. Mims age 94, of 721 Secession Avenue transitioned Peacefully on October 25, 2021 at Self Regional in Greenwood South Carolina. Mr. Mims had a love for music and played Organ for sacred heart Catholic Church for many years. Thales Mims was a graduate of Allen University, Middleburg, as well as Vanderbilt. In addition to serving in the US Navy on separate carries. Mr. Mims also taught Spanish in Cuba and Spain. Mr. Mims was a Fulbright Scholar distinguished educator and a community activist. Mr. Mims inspired countless students to answer the teacher profession. Known most for his intelligence and his always being impeccably dressed. Thales was preceded in death by his parents William Samuel Mims and Alma Patterson Mims. He was preceded in death by two brothers William (Jean) Mims and Talmadge (Brenda) Mims two nephews Billy (Roz) Mims and Milton Mims. He is survived by his only nephew Gregory Zapp (Lesa) Mims of the home. Three great nephews Gregory L. Mims and Preston Thomas-Smalls both of the home. Christopher Vegas of New Jersey. Two great nieces Shanice Zekeya and Moya Mims, both of Greenwood. Two great-great nephews Greyson and Preston Mims. One great-great niece Zoey Mims and a host of cousins and friends. Funeral will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Abbeville-White Mortuary located at 100 Whitehall Street, Abbeville, South Carolina.
