Monday morning, July 12, 2021, a hero was called home. Terry Lee Raney, 70, succumbed to complications from a stroke at his home where he was in the company of his son, and best friend Vicki, who held him close as he left this world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Leon Raney, and Janette Griggs Raney.
Terry is survived by his son, Cody; ex-wife, Vicki; sisters, Linda, and Judy; brothers, Johnny, and Steven; brothers-in-law, Ricky, Freddie, and Paul; sisters-in-law, Cindy, and Denise; nieces, Brigette, Leslie, Shannon, and Caitlyn; nephews, Chad and Collin, and numerous great nephews, nieces, and cousins. Terry was also a hero to three surrogate sons, Wesley, Lee, and Louis; two surrogate daughters, Gena, and Melissa; and to his own son, who will never have another hero, not one like him.
Terry loved playing golf, fishing, and having a good time. He enjoyed his time with friends and family and never took a day for granted. Terry was loved by many people and loved everyone in return. His infectious laugh and charisma will be sorely missed.
A celebration of life will be held August 7, 2021, at 4PM at 5045 Van Meter Road. In lieu of flowers please donate to The United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), Hospice East of the Bluegrass (Winchester), or the UK Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVIC), all of whom meant the world to Terry. Their work has been instrumental in his care and he and his family are eternally grateful for their work.
