It is with great sadness that the family of Terry Neal Crawford announces his passing. Terry was born on October 24, 1949, in Winshire, Texas, to Newburn Dee Crawford and Hattie Madelyn Allen. He passed away on February 2, 2018, in Bellville, Texas.
Terry was the fourth of five children and grew up in Houston, Texas, with his parents, brother and 3 sisters. He didn’t care much for school, but loved the rodeo. He rode bareback and saddle bronc on the South Texas Junior College Rodeo Team and competed in the National Finals Rodeo.
Terry was first introduced to his wife, Susan, at a rodeo. They dated and attended many more rodeos together. They were married on April 23, 1970, in Baytown, Texas.
Terry joined the Houston Fire Department on April 15, 1972. According to his wife, he loved everything about the fire department. He was a leader willing to do whatever it takes to make things better for all. He gave his heart and soul to the men and women of the Houston Fire Department. His love and devotion to them led him to be one of the founding members of the HFD Pipes and Drums, Honor Guard and write the HFD Funeral Procedure. He designed the HFD Retiree uniform patch as well as the Honor Guard Service Medal.
After almost 33 years of dedication, Terry retired from the Houston Fire Department on May 15, 2004, however, he continued to work with and develop the HFD Pipes undefined brother, Robert Douglas Crawford and sister Nita Ann Couch.
