Terry James Bourgeois, a man of honor and warmth, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 76. Born on February 27, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Terry was the beloved son of the late Wilson James Bourgeois and Mary Elizabeth Bourgeois. His life was a testament to the values of love, intelligence, and selflessness that he embodied.
Terry's journey was marked by a steadfast commitment to service. After obtaining his GED, he dedicated 24 years of his life to the United States Army, where he served with distinction and honor. Following his retirement from military service, he continued to contribute to the community at Fort Sill Base as a contractor instructor for 13 years, sharing his knowledge and experience with gratitude and generosity.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Elke Bourgeois, and a guiding figure to his stepchildren, Patrick and Dominick Batt. Terry's legacy of kindness and guidance also shone brightly in the life of his grandson, Austen Batt. His extended family, including his cousins Karen, Percy, Lance, Dwayne, and their spouses, will remember him fondly for the joy and stability he brought into their lives.
Terry's personal interests reflected the quiet depth of his character. An avid reader, he found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. His collections of stamps and coins were a mirror of his appreciation for history and the wider world. These hobbies, though solitary in nature, were a bridge to the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life.

Graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at 12:30 pm, on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Fort Sill Post Cemetery.
