Teresa Lynn Carter, age 58, went to her rest on August 2, 2021, at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville. Teresa was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, on October 18, 1962, to Phyllis Ann and Billy Scott Carter Sr. After graduating from Oak Ridge High School, Teresa attended St. Mary's School of Nursing. She began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse at Children's Hospital in Knoxville and went on to practice for 13 years. She was one of an elite few of her associates who specialized in providing anesthesia to infants and young children. The lives of many were positively impacted by Teresa's medical skills and kind heart. For all her professional success, however, her most fulfilling accomplishment was being a mother to her daughter, Olivia Mirela-Ann Carter-Bright. Everyone who knew Teresa knew adopting Olivia was the joy of her life. One of her most cherished memories was traveling to Romania with her sister Tina to bring Olivia home. For her, family was everything.
Teresa is preceded in death by her grandparents, Grant and Theda Carter and Charles and Mary Mallory. Teresa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Cody Bright; father and mother, Billy Scott Carter Sr. and Phyllis Ann Carter; brother, Billy Scott Carter Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Robert Todd Johnson; niece, Amanda Johnson; nephews, Chris Carter, Esteban Carter, and Alden Johnson; and special friends, including Pastor Glenn Metts.
The family will hold a graveside service at 11:00 a.m., August 4, 2021, at Middle Creek Cemetery in Sevierville, with Pastors Glen Metts and Don Long officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
