Teddy Clarie Rush, 77, of Hallettsville, passed away on April 2, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born in Solano County, California on October 8, 1943, to parents Frederick Rush & Velma Klusman Rush. Growing up on Twin Sisters Ranch with her family, she attended Armijo High School in Fairfield and graduated with the Class of 1961.
At 12 years old, Teddy began working in the summers for her parents at Twin Sisters Ranch guiding hikes, working the concession stand and as life guard at the campground pool. Throughout her life, she has waited on tables, worked as a receptionist, designed and taught computer classes, opened a Temporary Secretary business, owned and operated rental properties, and even earned her pilots license. She was never afraid of hard work and prided herself on earning everything she had.
Teddy believed education was important and never stopped learning. She attended several colleges throughout her life including Sacramento State, Catawba Valley Community College, and Nevada State College. She went on to live in Arizona, New Mexico, North Carolina, Nevada, and California, but fell in love with Texas in 1989 and decided to make it her final home.
Teddy enjoyed learning about other cultures and lifestyles. She and her husband traveled all over the world meeting people of all different walks of life and visiting many unique places. Along with traveling, she enjoyed playing the guitar and piano, reading, working crossword puzzles, playing bridge, writing short stories and sewing. She even wrote and published her own cookbook with recipes for leftovers. She would share stories about her life growing up and the antics of her brothers, but nothing made her happier than spending time with family when they came to visit at Belly Acres Ranch. She has said for us not to mourn her death, she had a long wonderful life filled with adventure, joy and love.
