Ted Holt Walter, 60, husband of Cheryl Kirby Walter, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at MUSC Health of Florence.
Ted was born on February 25, 1960 in Camden, son of The Reverend Dr. Theodore Holt Walter and Pegilie Price Walter. He received his BA in Economics from Wofford College and was Commander of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Ted was a South Carolina Realtor and Certified Residential Appraiser with Kirby Realty & Construction. He was past president of the Rotary Club of Lake City and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the Florence County Zoning Board of Appeals. Ted was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church where he served in numerous leadership roles and was a faithful volunteer for Lake City Meals on Wheels. He was dedicated to his community, his church and various clubs which he led and served. Ted was also an avid outdoorsman. He was a devoted husband for 33 years, a proud father and most recently a grandfather, "T-Pop."
Surviving, in addition to his parents of Columbia, are his wife, Cheryl Kirby Walter of Lake City; son, Benjamin (Allison) Walter of Charleston; daughter, Grace (Patrick) Burch of Lake City; grandson, Jack Burch of Lake City; brothers, Tim Walter of Mt. Pleasant, Perry Walter of Atlanta, GA, and Paul (Jennifer) Walter of Hilton Head; aunt, Connie Walter of Florence; father and mother-in-law, LaRue and Shelby Kirby of Lake City; brother-in-law, Roger (Pam) Kirby of Lake City; nieces, Amy Kirby, Lizzie Kirby, Kate (Andrew) Hall, Celia Walter and Hanna Walter; and nephews, Price Walter and Cooper Walter.
Ted was preceded in death by sister-in-law Darlene Walter and aunt Mary Lou Munn.
Private family graveside services will be Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Lake City Memorial Park.
