Sylvia Ann Perkins (nee Kruczek) passed away peacefully on July 21, 2022. She was surrounded by her devoted daughter, Susan Perkins and her grandchildren, Maegan Binder and Trevor Grew.
Sylvia was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on September 17, 1934. She attended Bakersfield Grammar School, Manchester Central High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire. She was the lifelong friend of Stasia Smith Hall who taught science at Hillside Middle School.
Sylvia was the loving wife of James Charles Perkins who passed in 2009. Sylvia and Jim raised two daughters in their family home in Hooksett, New Hampshire. Stasia Pieczenik resides in Melrose, Florida with her husband, Steve. Susan resides in Arlington, Virginia. Sylvia's grandson, Trevor Grew resides in Dover, NH with his partner, Tyler Maynard and her granddaughter, Maegan Binder resides in Arlington, Virginia with her husband, Mitch.
Sylvia had a fifty plus year career in the Hooksett school system as school librarian and later as administrative assistant to the principal. She hosted many end of school year and Christmas parties for the school staff and she will be remembered by staff and former students as a cheerful, elegant woman who was kind and good at her job.
Sylvia loved her small town of Hooksett and enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her home for holidays and casual get togethers. She taught her two daughters to be kind, loyal and extremely hard working. Sylvia will be missed yet remembered fondly for her love of life and family.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Jim, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
Calling hours will be held at Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. Pembroke, NH on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 3PM to 5PM.
