Sylvia J.Alden, 93, died on March 2, 2021 in Concord, NH. She was born on February 22, 1928 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Helen (Johnson) and Albert Jacobs. She was raised in Auburn, MA, and graduated from Auburn High School. She attended and graduated from Colby Junior College, in New London, NH. Sylvia moved to Boston, MA and was a medical secretary in two different practices. She began dating Bradford Alden when he was a student at Boston University, and they married in 1950. They moved to Indiantown Gap, PA, where Brad was stationed in the Army. It was there that their first daughter, Dianne, was born. Brad was then sent to Korea. After his return, Brad and Sylvia settled in Concord, NH where he worked at the Concord National Bank. They had twins, Judy and Janet, while living in Concord. Brad's career took them to Hampton where their son Peter was born, and then to Dallas, PA, and Lebanon, NH, where he became President of the National Bank of Lebanon. They later moved to Exeter and Rye, where Brad was President of the Indianhead National Bank.
Sylvia was a very devoted wife, mother and homemaker, always supportive of Brad's career moves. She did a lot of volunteer work in the communities where they lived and was very active in the churches she was a member of. She was a very gracious hostess to all their many friends as well as to Brad's business associates. She and Brad enjoyed many trips to Europe together, but she most especially enjoyed their condo in Venice, Florida where they had many friends, parties and lots of golf! Sylvia was a very caring, gracious and kind lady with a wonderful sense of humor. She most importantly cherished her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Brad, her daughter Dianne, her brother, Dr. Forrest Jacobs and his wife Shirley, and her son-in-law John Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter Janet Wilson of Hanover, NH, her daughter Judy LaRochelle and her husband Dave of Londonderry, NH, her son Peter of West Boylston, MA; her grandchildren Heather Prebish and her husband Mark of Windsor, VT, Brett Wilson of Hanover NH, Trevor Wilson and his wife Christina of North Port, FL, Jonathan LaRochelle of Brooklyn, NY, Kristin Mosier and her husband Nick of Derry, NH, Jacob Alden of Medford, MA, and Meredith Alden of West Boylston, MA; her great-grandchildren Ella and Lily Prebish, Quinn LaRochelle, Bennett, Charlotte and Cohen Mosier, Aiden Wilson; and her nephew Glenn Jacobs and his wife Leslie of Tampa FL.
