Sylvester Eason

Sylvester B. Eason, 82, of Pittsfield, MA passed away February 1, 2024 at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Facility. He was born in Screven, Georgia on February 4, 1941 to the late Joel Eason, Sr. and Beatrice Menifee Eason.

Mr. Eason married the former Norman Jean Johnson on January 8, 1966. She predeceased him in 2007.

He was a machinist for over 30 years at Crane and Company in Dalton. Sylvester also had been employed by Maxymillian, Petricca and General Electric.

Mr. Eason enjoyed gardening, fishing and motorcycles.

He is survived by his children, James Eason of Pittsfield, Calvin Eason of New Jersey, Dale Eason of Pittsfield, and Alexandria Eason of Pittsfield. He also leaves his sisters, Elizabeth Wright and Rebecca Vail both of Pittsfield. As well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held MONDAY, February 12, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 27 EAST ST., in Pittsfield. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be held in Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA, to help the family defray costs.
