Sylvene Branyon Jones November 10, 1932 - July 17, 2022 Columbia, South Carolina - On July 17, 2022, Sylvene Branyon Jones, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother joined her Heavenly Father. She is survived by her sons, Randall Leon Jones (Sharron), Michael Holmes Jones (Jean), her daughters, Deborah Jones Hart (Jim) and Cynthia Jones Walter (Fisher), grandchildren, Robbie Neal (Carrie), Franklin (Jennifer), Amanda (Rick), Michael (Austin), Branyon (Macy), Will, Noel, and Ellie, her great grandchildren Banks, Molly, Jack, Finley, Ivey, Lenora, Fisher, Hampton, and her twin sister, Pauline Branyon Mullinax of Anderson, SC. The seventh of nine children, Sylvene was born November 10, 1932 in Pendleton, SC to Rosa and Clyde Harper Branyon. She grew up in Honea Path and after high school, she graduated Anderson College in Anderson, SC. Sylvene then worked at the Daily Mail Newspaper in Anderson when she met Leon Holmes Jones, the love of her life. They married in 1956 and celebrated 62 years of a God breathed marriage before he went Home to be with his Savior in 2018. Always quick with a smile and kind word, Sylvene had a sterling career working for 33 years at what is now Bank of America. She started off as a teller and was quickly promoted to Customer Service Representative as she attracted clients with her kindness, smile and willingness to help in any way. Sylvene ultimately sold mortgages and so many financial products that she won many contests each year. When her beloved husband, Leon, retired and first became ill, Sylvene quit her banking job and stayed home caring for him until he died in the Warriors Walk at the VA hospital. Sylvene had many passions, mainly for being with her children. She also enjoyed cooking, caring for her home, playing bridge, and especially walking the walk as a follower of Jesus Christ. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbia, SC for 59 years. It was her practice and joy to share her blessings with those who were not as fortunate. All will miss dearly her positive spirit, listening ear, wisdom from Above and especially her love. In particular, the Jones Family wants to deeply thank the dedication and professionalism of so many caregivers along the way, with special thanks to Ella Booker of Columbia, SC, Warren Brown of Columbia, SC and Shaney Joe of Camden, SC. Sylvene wished for no mourning, only celebration as she indeed is now at her Eternal home, full of Joy being with Jesus, her many family members and especially her beloved Leon. A celebration of her life will be held in Sylvene's honor at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine St, Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sylvene's honor to the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 140 Stonebridge Drive, Suite 640, Columbia, SC 29210, or First Baptist Church of Columbia, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
