Sybil Rebecca Tumlin Bradbury, 91, died Sunday, August 7, 2022 at her new home, The Madison. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on August 10 at Madison Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm, prior to the service.
Born June 20, 1931 in Gainesville, Georgia, Sybil was the middle of seven children born to John Frank Tumlin and Sara Ruth Tanner Tumlin. Her family moved to Madison in 1935 and she lived here most of her life.
After graduation from Madison High School in 1948 she was employed by Southern Bell as a telephone operator. At a Southern Bell picnic, she was introduced to her future husband. On January 6, 1952, Sybil married Leonard L. Bradbury in the Madison Baptist Church, where they have been faithful members ever since. Later she worked at the Georgia Farm Bureau where she served the member of Morgan County for many years.
Sybil is survived by her husband of 70 years, Len Bradbury and her children: Rebecca (David) Brown, Barbara Scott, Julie (Tony) Hughes, Emily (Ken) Jones and Bill (Candee) Bradbury. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as two sisters: Martha Sue Dotson and Lynn (Joe) Hanson.
Sybil loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to cook and always had the loveliest yard. She loved her church and her coffee club friends.
She enjoyed her walks around the neighborhood and rarely missed a day. She took the opportunity to talk with everyone she met. It was important to her to get to know all her neighbors. She never met a stranger and never slowed down.
Her family will cherish their memories of Sybil and are thankful for the many kind things she did for them. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison Baptist Church.
