Sue began her career at Coca-Cola in Havana, working for Roberto Goizueta. It was at Coca-Cola that she met her husband, Manuel Rodrguez. They married in 1957 before immigrating to the United States in 1959. In New York, Manny returned to work at Coca-Cola, and Sue worked at Long Island University. They soon started their family, raising 3 children.
In 1972, Coca-Cola moved the family to Georgia, and Sue lived the life of a doting mother, shuttling her kids to sports events and church, making Halloween costumes and homecoming gowns, and volunteering in classrooms and with the McEachern High Booster Club. As the kids grew older, she renewed her career at Georgia Tech before retiring in 1995.A
Sue was most proud of making a house a home. She loved family gatherings and celebrating the holidays around the dinner table. She enjoyed needle crafts and knitting, games and puzzles, detective movies and mystery novels. Sue famously knew the tune of countless Broadway show tunes, though she rarely remembered the words. She was genuine, approachable, and fiercely protective of her family.
We will miss her delicious Cuban cooking, her joyous laugh and her funny sayings.
Sue was preceeded in death by her husband and granddaughter. She leaves behind her beloved children Kenneth (Jeanne) Rodriguez, Robert (Amy) Rodriguez, Susana (Terry Meier) Rodriguez, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild on the way.
