Susan Lynn Tameling, age 58, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 5, 2020. Sue was born in Kalamazoo, MI, in 1961.
She graduated from Unity Christian High School in 1980 and Calvin College in 1984. While at Unity and Calvin, Sue participated and excelled in many sports.
Although sports were very important to Sue, nothing was more important than her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her love for the Lord was expressed through her passion and dedication to Christian Education. She served schools all over the United States and was well known for her wisdom, skill and experience as a teacher, coach, principal and athletic director. She served schools in St. Louis, MO, Fremont, MI, Coral Springs, FL, Seattle, WA, Chicago, IL, and Greenwood, IN.
She is survived by her father, Paul Tameling; siblings, Steve and Belinda Tameling, Sharon and Kevin Hekman, Scott and Beth Tameling; step-siblings, Heidi and Ken Tameling, Lou and Barry Dingman, Paul and Jenni VerPlank; nieces and nephews, Danielle and Jason White (Savannah), Rachel Hekman, Nick and Michaela Tameling (Wyatt), Lydia Hekman and fiance Dalton Mayaard, Andrew Tameling, Philip Hekman, Brook Alexis Tameling, Sarah Tameling, Peter Hekman, Noah Tameling; honorary nieces and nephews, Mary Catherine Baas, Alex Tien, David Tien, Juliana Tien, Matthew Hekman, Michael Hekman.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Tameling; stepmother, Anne Tameling.
A private graveside service will take place. A celebration of Sue's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Greenwood Christian Academy of Greenwood, IN.
