Susan Radcliffe Born: October 19, 1945 in Chicago, IL Died: June 29, 2022 in Mauston, WI Susan Radcliffe, age 76 of rural Mauston, Wisconsin, passed away suddenly with her beloved husband by her side on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her residence. The Mass of Christian Burial was held onMonday, July 4, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of rural Mauston with Father George Nelson Graham celebrating. Burial was held at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery in Marion Township, Juneau County, Wisconsin. Susan was born October 19, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Yeschek) Johnson. Susan attended Wauconda High School with her siblings where she met her future husband. In December of 1963, she married Douglas Radcliffe in Waukegan, Illinois, and had 3 sons. The two eventually settled in Solon Mills, IL where they raised their sons and operated their family-owned drywall business, DCR Drywall together. Susan had a passion for cooking and worked in various restaurants throughout her life including managing the McHenry Country Club for several years. Susan even opened her own restaurant, The Eating Place, in New Lisbon, WI, and it was at this time that she and Doug moved into their cabin in Mauston, WI and made it their permanent retirement home. Susan had a love of gardening, dogs, cooking, and meal preparation that she enjoyed with her family and friends. She was the happiest when she was hosting a holiday or had family in town, and could cater the entire celebration from scratch herself. Those who knew her will always remember her enormous 4th of July celebrations where she had to obtain a permit from the city in order to host. Most of all, her crowning achievement was her family: her husband, boys, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue loved her family dearly and cherished the time she spent with them. She had an open garage door policy that symbolized an invitation for all; a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, and unending conversation was a guarantee. Susan is survived by her husband, Douglas; her sons, Michael (Teri Jakubieck) Radcliffe, Darrin (Karen Tassone) Radcliffe, Kenneth (Andrea Stahl) Radcliffe; her grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Radcliffe, Cory (Ashley) Radcliffe, Lisa (Cory) Andraschko, Rachel (Shane) Hanson, Morgan Radcliffe, Bryce Radcliffe; her great-grandchildren, Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, Abraham, Esther, Emma, Eli, Nash, Giovanni, and Gia; siblings, Walter, Joseph, Frank, Karen (Wilbur), David, and Timothy Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Community Sharing Pantry in Mauston, WI would be appreciated. The Conway-Picha Funeral Home and Crematory of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin assisted the family with arrangements.
