Susan Kay Lacina, 65, passed away March 21, 2023 due to complications from cancer. Susan was born January 24, 1958 in Oakes, ND to James and Imogene (Stemen) Arndt.
Susan graduated from Fullerton High School in 1976. She attended Aberdeen School of Commerce, graduating in August 1977. She married her high school sweetheart, Jody, on October 1, 1977 at St. Helena's Catholic Church in Ellendale, ND. Susan and Jody were lifelong members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fullerton. They raised their three children north of Fullerton where they farmed until Jody's death in 2019.
Susan was a wonderful baker and cook. She loved planning, cooking and delivering meals during harvest. Other hobbies included quilting, embroidery and playing Scrabble. Her favorite role was that of grandma to not only Alivia, Allen and Alex but also her granddogs, Sophie, Oscar, Honey, Annie and Rocky. She found great joy in her grandchildren including baking lessons, planting the garden, picking apples in the fall and driving them around the farm on her golf cart.
Susan loved visiting with family and friends. She had highs and lows throughout her 16 year battle with cancer but maintained a wonderful attitude until the very end. No matter the type of day she was experiencing, she always had a smile on her face. Frequent calls and visits from family members contributed to her positivity.
Susan is survived by her son Andy (Alana) Lacina and their three children, all of Fullerton; daughter Jenny (Peter) Wagner of Eden Prairie, MN and daughter Jill Lacina (Karl Ketterling) of Marion, ND. Also surviving are her brother Lynn (Marianne) Arndt of LaMoure, ND; sister Mary (Neil) Anderson of Wentzville, MO; parents-in-law, Bob and Arb Lacina of Fullerton; and three sisters-in-law Patti (Donny) Lipp of Aberdeen, SD; Debbie (David) Scallon of Edgeley, ND and Nancy Lacina of Thief River Falls, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and granddogs Peanut, Bear and Buddy.
