Susan Ellen Fago, “Suzy” to all who knew her, 57, wife of Carl Fago, of Seneca, SC, passed away of complications from ALS (aka Lou Gerhig’s disease) on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Baltimore, MD, Suzy was the daughter of Mary Ellen Bain and the late Ronald Bain. In addition to her husband and mother, Suzy is survived by her son Christopher Fago (Megan), brother Bill Simpson (Marlene) and sisters Peggy Carlile (Joe) and Mary Jane Bain.
She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and nurse. She felt most proud of the man her son has become and her service as a nurse at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Her greatest satisfaction was helping her patients and their families.
Suzy always enjoyed the beach and ocean. Her “girl’s trips” to the beach turned out to be the source of legendary stories, some of which are held in secret by those who were there. Suzy learned scuba diving late in life but diving quickly turned into her most favorite hobby. Her underwater photographs are beautiful. She was a passionate member of the Dive Pirates Foundation where she helped physically disabled divers to scuba dive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced here.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Dive Pirates Foundation at https://divepirates.org/donate (https://divepirates.org/donate)
Carl thanks the staff of Hospice of the Foothills for their help and kindness during Suzy’s final months. https://www.prismahealthupstategiving.org/oconee-donation/ (https://www.prismahealthupstategiving.org/oconee-donation/)
