Susan Conzelman Pham. Born February 13, 1945, she went home to be with God on May 23rd, 2020. Susan was born in Oak Ridge, TN to Ralph and Hazel (Bennett) Conzelman. She was raised in Detroit, MI. After high school, she had the opportunity to visit South Vietnam with her father, a civil engineer who was contracted to build the American University in Saigon. She worked as Executive Secretary at the US Army/Navy Exchange Headquarters and while there, learned to speak fluent Vietnamese, and fell in love with Wong Pham, and they were married 55 years. After their first son was born, they emigrated back to the US and lived in Deerfield Beach, FL and she counted Stuart, FL, Lansdale, PA, Fredericksburg, VA and finally Somerset, PA as home so she could be near children and grandchildren. She became a born again Christian attending and being very active in many different churches, participating in prison ministry, teaching Sunday school, and she was a force for kindness in the world. She worked in accounting and continually enhanced her education while raising three children. She always had a kind word and her smile would light up a room. She loved music, saw Elvis Presley in concert, and never saw a sad or happy scene in a movie or TV show she didn't cry in. Though she had difficulty hearing, she was a great listener and loved being together with family, with a great meal and lots of laughter. She was an avid learner her whole life and always stopped to read the signs marking any historical spot. She is predeceased by her parents and her sister Virginia Dail, and is survived by her husband Wong, her three children and their spouses Lisa and Scott Bittner, Jesse and Tanya Pham and John and Lara Pham, and her six grandchildren: Gracyn, Zolina, Landon, Kelby, Nick, and Zoey. Services will be private. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Laurel Highlands Alzheimer's Foundation (https://lhalzheimersfoundation.org).
