Susan Hall Best, 74, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in Maine while vacationing with her family.
Susan was born in Newport News, Virginia on August 5, 1944 and was raised in Newark, Delaware by her parents, the late Charles James Hall and Helen Margaret Boston Hall. She graduated from Campbell University where she met her husband, William Wakefield Best. They were married in 1965 and moved to Lexington where she worked for many years in education and the banking industry. Susan and Bill later moved to Goldsboro and began a career in real estate. They made quite a team in the real estate market. She retired from Century 21 Real Estate Agency in 2015. Following her retirement, Susan volunteered with the American Red Cross at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Pharmacy where she enjoyed speaking to the people and giving them their medicine.
Susan was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Susan enjoyed shopping, playing bridge, and loved the many opportunities to mentor young people as an ESL tutor with Wayne County Public Schools. Susan and her husband travelled extensively during their 54 years of marriage. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She will be missed.
