Sue Blanton Kennedy

The family is sad to announce the passing of Sue Blanton Kennedy, who died at the age of 71, on June 3, 2023 in Fernandina Beach, Florida surrounded by family. She was a resident of Evans, Georgia, but had previously lived for many years in Columbia, South Carolina.

Sue was born in Griffin Georgia, the daughter of Belle and Albert Blanton, who preceded her in death. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, John Kennedy of Evans, Georgia; her son Michael Kennedy (Alexandra) of Columbia, South Carolina; her daughter, Mary Frances Jashinsky (John) of Evans, Georgia; and her sister Joan Blanton, of Fernandina Beach, Florida. Also, left to mourn are her beloved grandchildren, who Sue (Grammy) adored: Layla Grace Jashinsky, Jackson Robert Jashinsky, Mary Kate Jashinsky, and Isaac M. Kennedy. They were her heart.

Sue graduated from Presbyterian College in 1973 with a bachelors in Sociology, and from the University of South Carolina College with a Masters in Social Work in 1977. Sue worked for many years with the South Carolina Children's Bureau, and for Bethany Christian Services in Adoptions. Sue helped many couples in this role, and is remembered for her care and compassion. She loved the Lord and her family. She always found ways to make family time extra special.

A graveside service for immediate family, officiated by the Reverend Dr. Jason Hunt, will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, Georgia, on May 10, 2023 at 11:00am. Haisten McCullough Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family wants to offer a special thanks to the medical and nursing staff of Baptist Medical Center Nassau and the Community Hospice Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Florida for the special care they provided to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
