Stuart Randall Carswell, 90, of Keene, passed away on Tuesday January 14, 2025. Born on August 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Stuart and Priscilla (Kellogg) Carswell.
In 1957, he graduated with a bachelor's degree from Gettysburg College and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. After college, he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps and captained the US Marine Corps Rugy Team in the U.K in the 1950's. Stu was Personnel Director at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Boston, and at Digital Equipment Corporation and Ogden-Allied Services. Later, he and Marie owned The Griffin Country Lodge in Stowe, Vermont.
He was an avid sportsman and continued playing rugby for Beacon Hill Rugby Club in Boston into the 1980s. He enjoyed swimming, sailing, and skiing, and was an accomplished darts player and marksman. He enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours enjoying watching birds at the seaside and in the mountains. He was very fond of spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved very dearly.
He is survived by his son Stanley Randall Carswell; and daughters Annette Carswell and Tina Carswell; granddaughter Cassidy Lavalette; grandson Hunter Carswell; great-grandchildren Noah, Desmond, Leon, Dante, Natalia, and Francene. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Marie Patricia Valerie Buck; brother Harry; and sister Nancy.
Donations made in memory of Stu may be offered to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Audobon Society.
