Stroddy McKenrick Curry transitioned on May 13th, 2022. He was born on August 25th, 1942 in Knoxville, TN to Lottie Curry and Fred Johnson. He grew up in the Brickyard Community in the Bearden area. Stroddy graduated from Austin High School in 1960 and served valiantly in the U.S. Navy.
Stroddy retired from K-25 where he worked for 25 years. Stroddy was an active member of the Green Turf Association in East Knoxville where he was an avid golfer on the weekends. Stroddy proudly served as the Chairman of the Usher Board at Freedom Fellowship Church. A man with a kind heart, Stroddy would help anyone who needed it.
Stroddy was preceded in death by his parents Lottie Curry and Fred Johnson; brother Willie Curry; sister Vernetta C. Foxx, and nephew Michael Foxx.
He is survived by nephews Frank Foxx, Eric (Sheri) Foxx, and Courtland (Robin) Curry; sister-in-law Sandra Curry; niece-in-law Marla (daughter Madelyn) Foxx; devoted cousins, The Johnson and Taylor Family.
Stroddy's devoted friends included Eugene Clark, Henry Muckle, Mike Echols, Mike Tucker, Lila Johnson and family, Charlotte Boyd, and his church family at Freedom Fellowship Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19th, 2022 at Freedom Fellowship Church, 4027 Papermill Drive. The Receiving of Friends will be from 6-7 pm with funeral services to follow, Pastor Derick Wakefield officiating. Graveside Services will be Friday May 20th, 2022 at 10 am at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. John Sevier Hwy, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked direct donations to the American Cancer Society.
