Stewart Shaw Richardson, Jr. (AKA Stew Baby), age 66, died on February 1, 2021. He was raised in Perry, Georgia, graduated from Darlington School, Emory at Oxford Junior College, and the University of Georgia where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Stewart had a long and successful career as an investment advisor in Athens. He served on the President's Club Council for Interstate Johnson Lane - Wachovia. One of his most cherished positions was serving on the Salvation Army Athens Advisory Board for 16 years and served as Membership Chairman for 3 of those years. He also served on The Word of the Lord Board.
Stewart had many passions - his family, politics, University of Georgia football with its fine tailgate parties, UGA basketball, and golf (playing it and watching it). However his greatest passion was entertaining those around him. He truly had the gift to gab and could hold an audience for extended periods keeping everyone laughing. He was the life of every party whether it was playing Santa Claus at the fraternity Christmas party or taking over the dance floor with his unique moves. A family wedding would not have been complete without his falling on the dance floor and doing 'the gator' to everyone's (except his mother's) delight. His extemporaneous toasts always brought great enjoyment and laughter to all guests. Stewart lived life to the fullest until his failing health in recent years. Anyone who was ever around Stew Baby for more than 30 minutes has a story to tell. He will be missed so much by those who loved him.
Stewart is predeceased by his parents Stewart Shaw Richardson, Sr. and Watson Richardson Gibbes. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, his children - Shaw, Sarah, and Hyatt, his beloved companion dog Ollie. He is also survived by his sisters, Molly Swan (Bill) and Nancy Watson (Johnny), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on February 9 at 3 PM for immediate family. A celebration of Stewart's life will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be given in his memory to Salvation Army of Athens, PO Box 367, Athens, GA, 30603 or a charity of your choice.
