Steven "Pug" Duane Perkins was born December 20th, 1964 in Springfield, Illinois. Steven was called home to glory January 30th, 2023, after a long thorough health battle.
Steven was born to Elworth and Rosa B. Perkins and moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1965. Steven attended Studebaker School, where he ran track and field and learned to work on cars in his youth. "Pug" loved cars and his children and knew no stranger. He loved everyone, enjoyed
fishing, feeding the ducks, dancing, and spending time with his family and kids. Pug was an avid bowler and would strike anyone out at any time. Pug loved to take his children to feed the ducks, fishing, car shows, and instructed his children, nephews, and nieces the ins and outs of cars and treating people with dignity. Pug loved his cars and community so much that he started his own mobile powering cleaning business whom he founded and loved.
Steven leaves his legacy to his children Anyiah Perkins/ Tersa' Brodnax (Don Juan Brown Jr.), Cameron Perkins /April Lacy, Brent and Morgan Lacy; one granddaughter Noa Lacy; sister Enid Alfred; special sister and niece Robbin Alfred; nephew Mario Alfred; nieces Tianna Alfred, Chantoria Alfred (Evansville, IN), Chavonne and Troy Turner (Texas); great nephews Braxton Alfred, Raymond and Cairo Turner; incredibly special family friends brother Craig Brown, Cleveland Brown, Marvin Brown, and Glenn Brown nieces Shona Perry, Yonnia Washington-Jones, Angela Brock, and nephew Randall Washington; along with all his friends and family that may have not been mentioned but who touched his heart. Steven joins his mother and father Rosa B. and Elworth Perkins, sister Faye Perkins, and nephew Raymond Alfred in death.
Services for Mr. Perkins will be held on Tuesday February 7, 2023; 1 P.M at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God In Christ, 1025 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Reverend Gilbert Washington will bring the word. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted Alford's Mortuary Inc.
